Offhand

Agents

How do I use Claude Code from ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Grok Bot, Muse or another agent?

Connect Claude Code and the agent you are in to Offhand at https://offhandapp.com/mcp, then ask that agent to hand Claude Code a task on the to-do list you share. Claude Code works when you run it. Offhand does not put Claude Code inside the other agent.

Connect Claude Code

§1

Add the Offhand server in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http offhand https://offhandapp.com/mcp

Checked 24 October 2026 with Claude Code 2.1.303: this command wrote the server configuration in a temporary test directory. It did not authenticate a connection.

For authentication, see Anthropic’s MCP documentation. The login flow was not rerun for this page.

With a terminal-made grant, Claude Code is a separate agent from the Claude app on Offhand.

How Claude Code picks up a task

§2

In a connected Claude Code session, say “Check Offhand for work handed to you, and do it.”

This page describes work when you run Claude Code; it does not establish automatic pickup. The task carries the request, necessary details and attached files, rather than your chat history.

For work split within a session, see Claude Code agent teams and Codex subagents. For a task you want to continue elsewhere, read the usage-limit handoff guide.

An illustrative task

Illustration, not a test result: ask ChatGPT to hand “Fix the failing export test” to Claude Code. ChatGPT uses add_task with assignTo: "claude-code", including the repository, failing output and what counts as fixed.

Claude Code reads the task and claims it with set_task_status at in_progress. It waits for the claim to succeed before working. It then reports done with what changed and what passed, or blocked with what is missing.

The returned status is the agent’s report. Read the evidence before accepting the result. See the hand-off guide for the fields and return path.
