It saved the note but made no tasks.

Nearly always Apple Intelligence — check it is turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri. If you turned it on recently the model may still be downloading; recording keeps working and tasks start appearing once it lands.

It still makes no tasks.

Accepted Answer

Offhand needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Making tasks runs on Apple Intelligence, which needs an A17 Pro chip — a separate requirement from iOS 26, and the one that decides. On an iPhone 14, 14 Pro, 15 or 15 Plus the app installs, records and transcribes correctly, and still files what you said — but as one task per note, keeping the day and hour you named. What it cannot do there is split one note into several tasks, label them, or answer a question with suggestions. Those three are what the A17 Pro buys.

Question 3

It isn’t hearing my language.

Accepted Answer

Offhand listens in one language at a time — English, Simplified Mandarin, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese — and you choose which in Settings. It does not detect the language you are speaking and it does not hear two at once.

It didn’t remind me.

Accepted Answer

A task that names a clock time alerts you at that time; a task that names only a day sits quietly, so a full day doesn’t become a day of alarms. Notifications also need permission, in Settings › Offhand.

Question 5

I need to sign in.

Accepted Answer

There is no sign-in and no password. Offhand has no accounts at all. Offhand Pro is billed by Apple to your Apple Account, so there is nothing to sign into for that either.

Question 6

What am I paying for?

Accepted Answer

Offhand is free to download and works without paying. Pro opens the Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets and the Control Centre control, the two switches — Show in Calendar and iCloud Sync — and a second transcription pass over each recording. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings; if it ends, syncing stops and nothing is deleted.
