A note splits into several tasks, each one marked.
For an agentCopy setupCopy path
An agent can read your list and notes through this. Nothing runs until you point an agent at it yourself: paste the setup into that agent’s chat and it will register itself. Once it has reported on a task, it joins the assignee list at the next launch.
Let agents report back
Off. A card you drop into an agent carries its words and nothing else, and Offhand reads that agent's own transcript to see who picked it up.
Updates
Check for updates automatically
On. Offhand asks offhandapp.com for one file, about once a day.
Offhand comes from offhandapp.com rather than the App Store, so it looks for its own updates. The check asks for one file and sends nothing about you, your tasks, or this Mac.
Listening
Primary languageEnglish
Offhand listens for this one; anything said in another is written back in the language Qwen3 hears when the note is saved.

Qwen3-ASR 0.6B, on this Mac. The audio never leaves it.
Recognition runs on this Mac and the words never leave it. The first note in a new language waits once while its model downloads.
Starting up
Open Offhand when you log in
Offhand starts with your Mac, so ⌥Space and the menu bar mark answer straight after a restart.

Fix the flaky login test this morningIt passes locally and fails on CI, always the same one.
Found it: a timeout CI never met. Pushed, and marked for your review.

› Cut the 2.3 release buildTag it off main once the dependency pins are in, and put the changelog in the release doc.
● read the task from offhand
● cut 2.3 · handed back for review
What do you need to do? Rebase the auth branch this morning, it is three commits behind main and the merge queue keeps rejecting it
I need to work on the Kubernetti’sKubernetes deploy that keeps failing the retry test. GrifanaGrafana shows the pods restarting in a loop. Data DogDatadog is alerting on every rollout, and I think it is the memory limit we dropped.
Voice capture with ⌥Space. The panel opens over whatever has the screen.
Drag a task into any app. The whole task lands, unsent.
A second model improves the transcript. Off until you fetch the model.
Apple Intelligence and a local speech model. Both run on this Mac, and the words never leave it.
How the Mac app works
Say it
Press ⌥Space in any app. The panel opens over what you were doing, and you do not leave it.
Drag it where the work is
Drop a card into anything that takes text and the task arrives with the note it came out of.
Hand it to an agent
Two tools read the list, one writes where a task got to. Nothing runs until you set it up.
Transcription, extraction, history and recordings stay where you spoke, unless you sign in to Offhand Cloud so an agent on the internet can read your list — what that copies. How to check it.
How it works
1 · Capture
Speak the way you normally would.
The Action Button on an iPhone, ⌥Space on a Mac.
2 · Save
A model on your device reads it.
Transcription and extraction both run where you spoke. Nothing is uploaded.
3 · Review
Four tasks, each with the time you said.
Filed under Morning, Afternoon and Tonight.
“Rebase the auth branch at 9 this morning, review Dana’s pull request at 2, cut the 2.3 release build at 4, then write the migration note at 6.”

Key features
“Tomorrow at nine” becomes a task on tomorrow at 9:00, and it alerts you at nine.
Nothing goes in your calendar unless you switch the Calendar mirror on.
Sample demo
“Send the proposal tomorrow at 3.”

SpeechAnalyzer runs on the iPhone. No upload, no queue.
Four parts of a day
Morning, Afternoon, Tonight, Anytime — not a calendar to maintain.
Move it to another day
Hold a card at the edge of the screen and the day changes underneath it.
Transcript and recording kept
Every capture keeps its transcript and its recording.
A thought with nothing to do stays a note, not a task.
Send it to another app
Drag a card into another app, or continue in Shortcuts. Nothing leaves on its own.
FAQ
Yes. Offhand hears you and makes your tasks on your device, and keeps your recordings, notes and tasks there — and in your own iCloud too, if you turn on sync. Nothing reaches us unless you sign in to Offhand Cloud, the optional account for agents on the internet, and even then we keep none of your recordings. We never sell your data or use it to train an AI model, and there is no analytics or advertising. The privacy policy says the rest.
No. There is nothing to sign up for, and Offhand works in airplane mode: hearing you and making the tasks both happen on the device. The one account is Offhand Cloud, which you sign in to only if you want an agent on the internet to read your list.
An iPhone 15 Pro or newer, on iOS 26, and a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26.
It listens in one language at a time, and you choose which in Settings: English, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese. The app itself is in all three.
Offhand is free to download, and speaking, the list, notes and search stay free. Offhand Pro, an optional subscription, adds the widgets, iCloud sync, Show in Calendar and a second pass over each recording on the iPhone, and Cloud transcription with Offhand Cloud. The Mac app is free; keeping it in step with your iPhone takes iCloud sync, which is Pro.
